On page SEO factors – Part 2
Page description – the part not seen on screen.
Your techie will know where to put this. Or if you’re using WordPress, you can use a plugin such as All in One SEO or Platinum SEO. Just search for them from the Plugins section of WordPress.
The description is the part that sometimes comes up below your page title in the search results unless Google thinks it isn’t relevant to the search that was carried out, in which case it will choose a section of your page that it thinks is more relevant.
You should aim for a maximum of 150 characters and make this text relevant to the rest of the page. It should be unique to each page and encourage potential site visitors to click on your title.
The next section of our free search engine optimisation course deals with headlines here.
